Join us in March for the world premiere of Charcoal Landscape!
Join us on March 18, 2012, at 2 PM at the Community House of Hamilton and Wenham in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, for the world premiere of Charcoal Landscape, a work written for flute choir and cello soloist.
Hailed by John Williams, Grammy award winning composer and conductor as "an outstanding cellist and truly dedicated artist", American cellist Emmanuel Feldman has emerged as one of the most innovative cellists of his generation. Known for his intense soulful playing and a broad range of repertoire and styles, he enjoys an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, champion of new music and educator. The Nashua Flute Choir is very excited to have Emmanuel Feldman join us for this world premiere.
Charcoal Landscape was written by Lisa Duke Lamb. A native of Sudbury, MA, she graduated from Penn State with a double major in flute performance and composition. She got her master's degree from the University of Texas Austin in harp performance. Lamb currently lives, teaches, and conducts in Austin, Texas.
Some of the other works on this program will include Christopher Caliendo's La Milonga, an exciting tango for C flutes only; Benjamin Godard's Au Matin, a warm and bubbly piece full of hints of Spring; Samantha Cooke's Purple Earth; the George Washington Fanfare; and Claude Debussy's Bohemian Dance.
