The Nashua Flute Choir, Inc., founded in 1983, is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to the cultural and musical enrichment of Nashua and its surrounding communities. Its sixteen members come from many career backgrounds and locations, fostering their love of music through The Nashua Flute Choir, led in this pursuit by professional flutist and conductor, Dr. Eileen Yarrison. A flute choir is a musical ensemble composed entirely of flutes. The Nashua Flute Choir includes six members of the flute family (piccolo, Eb flute, C flute, alto flute, bass flute, and contrabass flute). Every year The Nashua Flute Choir performs several concerts in NH and Mass. Many other functions The Nashua Flute Choir has performed at include weddings, graduations, and conventions. They also were selected to play at the National Flute Association Convention, August, 1996 in New York City , 1993 in Boston, Mass., 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia, and performed in Symphony Hall for the Greater Boston Flute Association in April of 1994. A variety of musical styles, ranging from Baroque to Contemporary, are included in The Nashua Flute Choir's repertoire. The musical selections from this extensive repertoire are tailored specifically to each function at which it performs. Requests for special pieces of music can also be arranged, with adequate advance notice. Performances by smaller ensembles (trios, quartets, for example) can be supplied as well.
